Namespace

- A name, or group of names, that is defined according to some naming convention; any bounded area in which a given name can be resolved. Active Directory is primarily a namespace, as is any directory service. A telephone directory is also a namespace. The Internet uses a hierarchical namespace that partitions names into categories known as top-level domains such as .com, .edu, and .gov, which are at the top of the hierarchy.
