  • A distinct, named set of attributes that represents something concrete, such as a user, a printer, or an application.   • An entity, such as a file, folder, shared folder, printer, or Active Directory object, described by a distinct, named set of attributes. For example, the attributes of a File object include its name, location, and size; the attributes of an Active Directory User object might include the user's first name, last name, and e-mail address. Any resource that can be manipulated by a program or process. Objects include resources that you can see through the user interface, such as files, folders, printers, registry subkeys and entries, Active Directory objects (that reside in an OU and has attributes stored... such as Users, Computers, and Groups), and the MS Windows desktop.
