  • Type of diabetes caused by another disease altogether or damage to the pancreas from chemicals, certain medicines, or diseases of the pancreas (such as cancer) or other glands. Secondary diabetes can occur as a consequence of disorders such as acromegaly, Cushing's Syndrome, hyperthyroidism, or surgical removal of the pancreas.
