Intensive insulin therapy for management consisting of strict monitoring of blood glucose levels to keep as close to normal by multiple daily insulin injections, a lifestyle change, exercise and healthier eating. Tight control significantly increases the danger of serious hypoglycemic reactions, and is not recommended for everyone.
