- An extension to Boolean searching, this technique checks the position of terms and only matches those within the specified distance. It's a good way to cut down the irrelevant matches and get better results. Search using the NEAR/ONEAR operators implies an explicit proximity constraint to the operands to the NEAR/ONEAR operator. NEAR is similar to AND, but requires that the terms should appear within a given word distance in the document. ONEAR also requires that the order of the terms shall be equal.
