Side bet up to half the initial bet against the dealer having a natural 21. Insurance is offered only when the dealers up card is an Ace. The insurance bet wins double if the dealer has a natural, but loses if the dealer does not.
A side bet that the dealer has a blackjack. The maximum insurance bet is half of your original wager. Insurance is almost always a negative expectation bet.
A side bet that the dealer has a natural 21 that is offered when the dealer's upcard is an ace. If the dealer has a natural, the player is paid double. If the dealer does not have a natural, the insurance bet is lost.
