Point source
Water
Weather
A pollutant source that can be treated in a dispersion model as though pollutants were emitted from a single point that is fixed in space. Example: the mouth of a smokestack. Compare area source and line source.
Climate Change
A single identifiable source that discharges pollutants into the environment. Examples are smokestack, sewer, ditch, or pipe. See non-point source.
Telecommunications
A source of electromagnetic radiation such that (a) the source is so distant from a point of observation or measurement of the radiation that the wavefront of the radiation is a planar rather than a curved surface, regardless of the shape of the source, (b) the size or shape of the source has no influence on the shape of the wavefront at the point of observation or measurement, and (c) the source need not necessarily radiate with equal radiance in all directions.
