Rows and columns

A search installation may be configured in a row/column configuration for performance and fault-tolerance reasons. Multiple Columns is used in order to partition the indexed content for large data volumes. Each column contains a unique subset of the indexed content.Multiple Rows are used for query performance scaling and fault-tolerance. Each row within a column is identical with respect to the indexed content.
