The player in a poker game who actually (or theoretically) is dealing the cards. When a professional dealer (casino or cardroom) or automated dealer (online) is present - it is necessary to identify the player who would be dealing the cards because the blinds and the betting action are to the left of the dealer. This is done by utilizing a marker called a dealer button which travels around the table in a clockwise manner, moving to the next player after each hand is completed.

Unlike the French roulette where the croupier simply points with the stick on the winning number on the table, in the American roulette the croupier uses a marker made of wood or plastic and places it on the table in the square of the winning number. The score marker is called 'dolly' because it has the outline that looks like a doll. Its functionality is primarily to help the players know the winning number until all winnings are paid.

To double the initial bet and take one and exactly one more card. Usually doubling down is only allowed after the first two cards are dealt. Some casinos allow doubling after splitting and some don't. Some casinos only allowing doubling down when the first two cards total 10 or 11.
You can double your initial bet following the initial two-card deal, but you can hit one card only (you must take one additional card). To do this the player turns over his/her first two cards and places an equal bet alongside the original bet. This a good bet if the player is in a strong situation and when the dealer's card is weak. Most casinos will allow you to double down on any two cards. Some casinos will also let you double down after splitting and some will limit your doubling down to hands that total ten or eleven.
