(Full term: single domain antibody ). Antibodies with only one (instead of two) protein chain derived from only one of the two domains of the normal antibody structure. Exploits the finding that for some antibodies, half of the molecule binds to its target antigen almost as well as the whole molecule. The major advantage of dAbs over other antibodies is that they can be cloned and expressed into bacteria, so that large numbers of antibodies can be generated and screened in parallel.

Published (Platts, NGI, Dow Jones, SNL, ICE, NGW) price indices for commodities (gas or electricity) to be delivered the next day based on transactions occurring between certain hours during the current day. Some market participants choose not to transact at a fixed price during the day for next-day delivery because prices can vary throughout the day. Instead, they choose to buy or sell at an index compiled by a publisher (usually a volume-weighted average of all transactions within specified hours), capturing a representative market price.

As the name indicates, this climatological product is issued daily by each National Weather Service office. Most of the climatological data in this report are presented in a tabular form; however, some narrative statements may also be used in the product. The report is organized so that similar items are grouped together (i.e., temperature, precipitation, wind, sunrise and sunset times, etc.).

(Abbreviation: Da). A unit of atomic mass roughly equivalent to the mass of a hydrogen atom. Used as to express molecular weight, which for biological macromolecules is usually in the range kilo- (kDa) to megaDaltons (MDa).
A unit of measurement equal to the mass of a hydrogen atom, 1.67 x 10E-24 gram/L (Avogadro's number).

A structure for impeding and controlling the flow of water in a water course, and which increases the water elevation to create the hydraulic head. The reservoir creates, in effect, stored energy.
Any artificial barrier which impounds or diverts water. The dam is generally hydrologically significant if it is:
- 25 feet or more in height from the natural bed of the stream and has a storage of at least 15 acre-feet.
- Or has an impounding capacity of 50 acre-feet or more and is at least six feet above the natural bed of the stream.
- A barrier built across a watercourse to impound or divert water. A barrier that obstructs, directs, retards, or stores the flow of water. Usually built across a stream. A structure built to hold back a flow of water. Catastrophic event characterized by the sudden, rapid, and uncontrolled release of impounded water.
- Catastrophic type of failure characterized by the sudden, rapid, and uncontrolled release of impounded water. It is recognized that there are lesser degrees of failure and that any malfunction or abnormality outside the design assumptions and parameters which adversely affect a dam's primary function of impounding water could be considered a failure. Such lesser degrees of failure can progressively lead to or heighten the risk of a catastrophic failure. They are, however, normally amenable to corrective action.

- Dam safety related issues and concerns are those which, if not adequately addressed could/would:
1 - Lead to a failure or malfunction reulting in an uncontrolled release of stored water that would place the downstream population potentially at risk or;
2 - Compromise the agency's ability to detect developing adverse dam performance and prudently respond to that performance.
