Decommissioning

The process of removing a power plant, apparatus, equipment, building, or facility from operation.

All activities necessary to take out of service and dispose of a facility after its useful life.

The removal or the rendering useless of obsolete or no longer needed components of the BMD system from service.

Decommissioning is the act of putting a grid component into the destroyed state so that it is no longer available to the GME. See also: Grid Component, Grid Management Entity
