little-endian
Java
A common difference between machines is the order in which they store the individual bytes of multi-byte numerical data. A little-endian machine stores the lower-order bytes before the higher-order bytes. See big-endian.
Perl
From Swift: someone who eats eggs little end first. Also used of computers that store the least significant "byte" of a word at a lower byte address than the most significant byte. Often considered superior to big-endian machines. See also "big-endian".
Storage
A binary data format for storage and transmission in which the least significant byte comes first.
