Spyware

Software that collects information without a user’s knowledge and transfers it to a third party.

Software that is secretly or surreptitiously installed into an information system to gather information on individuals or organizations without their knowledge; a type of malicious code.

Software programs which spy on web users, often used to collect consumer research and to behaviorally targeted ads.
