Supervised release
Criminal Law
A term of supervised release must be ordered by the court when required by statute or following a sentence of more than one year in prison. Like offenders placed on probation, offenders placed on supervised release are allowed to remain in the community; they are supervised by officers of the court and are required to observe certain conditions of their release.
