(Abbreviation: SDS-PAGE). A widely employed electrophoretic method for the separation of proteins from biological samples. The sodium dodecyl sulphate gives a uniform charge density to the surface of proteins or nucleic acids, so that their rate of migration through the gel is determined largely by their molecular weight.
