Food Biotechnology
A panel of cells created by cell fusion, typically involving a reference species (e.g. hamster) and the species of interest (e.g. sheep) with each member of the panel containing a different mixture of chromosomes from the two species. By relating the presence or absence of cloned fragments (via in situ hybridization ) or PCR products to the presence or absence of particular chromosomes from the species of interest, such panels can be used for physical map ping.
